Coastal Care Initiative
Surfing Moms’ Environmental Stewardship Program
The Coastal Care Initiative is Surfing Moms’ community-based environmental program focused on beach cleanups, invasive species removal, and ocean education for moms, children, and families. Our communities gather at the beach every week. Now we’re expanding that connection to include stewardship.
This program is currently in development and will be rolling out in 14 locations across the country throughout 2026.
Why Coastal Care?
Healthy oceans support healthy families. Surfing Moms exists to support mothers — and now, through Coastal Care, we extend that support to the coastlines we depend on. When we care for the coast together, we protect the spaces where our community gathers, grows, and connects.
The Coastal Care Initiative is designed to:
Protect local shorelines
Support native ecosystems
Reduce marine debris
Build environmental awareness
Engage families in hands-on stewardship
Strengthen the connection between ocean health and community health
-

Built Within Our Community Model
Coastal Care will integrate with existing Surfing Moms groups, making stewardship a natural extension of our beach gatherings.
By embedding environmental action into our weekly culture, we aim to:
Normalize stewardship
Create consistent impact
Empower families
Strengthen local partnerships
We believe that when families care for the coast together, they build lasting habits of stewardship and respect for the ocean. We are currently developing program structure, building local partnerships, preparing educational materials and coordinating rollout logistics.
